St. Anne’s 7th Grade Girls win Long Island CYO ‘B’ Division Championship
The St. Anne’s 7th Grade Girls Basketball Team coached by Jeff Lawlor and Conor O’Sullivan defeated St. Mary’s (Manhasset) 31-27 to win the Long Island CYO Championship on Saturday, February 27, 2016. This was the rubber match after St. Anne’s and St. Mary’s split during the regular season. After starting off slow, the girls went on an 11-0 run and took control of the game in the 2nd quarter. Their strong defense and smart offensive play enabled them to hold the lead the rest of the way. The girls finished the regular season in first place with a record of 10 wins and 2 losses, and in the playoffs defeated teams from Our Lady of Grace (West Babylon) and St. Anthony’s (East Northport) to reach the championship game. Parents and coaches couldn’t be more proud. Congratulations girls!
